COURSE NUMBER: ECON 6800
COURSE TITLE: National & International Economics for Managers
 
CATALOG DESCRIPTION:
Prerequisite:  Graduate (MBA) student status, ACCT 4999, ECON 4999, FINC 3400, and MATH 3110 or equivalent courses.  This course demonstrates how economic theory is applied to national and international managerial decision-making.  The course covers topics such as demand analysis, production and cost functions, market structure, managerial understanding of public policy, and international trade finance topics.
 
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The principal learning outcomes of this course are: 
  1. To understand elements of consumer-choice theory for managerial decision-making
  2. To understand the managerial importance of marginal-cost and marginal-revenue considerations
  3. To understand how market structures influence market behavior and performance
  4. To understand the basic economic theory behind public policy and regulatory efforts
  5. To understand macroeconomic and business cycle indicators and to discuss them
  6. To understand the basics of monetary and fiscal macroeconomic policy and their importance to managerial decision-making
  7. To understand the economic rationale for the promotion of trade
  8. To understand basic elements of the economics of international finance
